My recent trip to Came in the UK in December, and a guided tour of their training facilities by David were very informative and interesting.
If we go back to August 2022 and a conversation about safety, I had been speaking to David at Came about an AESIF apprentice electrical gate installer, who had attended a property to an automated gate that had stopped working. The gate had been installed for more than 15 years but had very little maintenance if any at all. The point is this young man could have been seriously injured or had a fatality in the gate because the hinge had broken off in the underground automation box. The owner of the gate being unaware of the problem, I asked David if anything could be done to warn owners of such a gate and the importance of servicing and maintenance.
Well, it took some time but Came rose to the challenge by creating a new product, a flashing light that informs the user of the necessity of a service interval, flashing purple, and slows the gate speed down to a safe speed till it has been serviced. The light also flashes red to warn of an impending dangerous fault condition AESIF is very pleased with the thought that has gone into this product because it gives all persons a visible "owner/engineer a clear indication of the gate condition and the respected action that needs to be taken on-site. The light also has a Bluetooth connection for proximity around the gateway and is a must for all including disabled users.
Product information the new range of KRX lighting systems that are now available for customer and their gateways, which are both practicable as visible illumination for "pedestrian use", warning of movement traffic light for "commercial industrial use", and have a safety/service indication lamp for important visual warnings.
A red flashing warning light indicates the need for a service and maintenance schedule for the protection of users and the safety thereof. The service interval light can be programmed by the service engineer and in agreement with the customer, to remind them of the need for the yearly service on domestic installations, or can be set by the number of agreed maneuvers for the commercially installed equipment to comply with health and safety on the site. There is now no requirement to be an AESIF member to use and sign off the AESIF Pendego app Visual Inspection Certificates.
"Don't forget to ask for your AESIF certificate" there is also the option for Bluetooth connection on the light for mobile use for up to 50 users for easy use of entry-exit in close proximity.
Merry christmas form Dave
